Visible
55+ Lives (Survey)
Visible Lives is a study to identify
the experiences and needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender
(LGBT) people in Ireland who are aged 55 and over.
The findings from this study will help to develop policies
and improve services for the over-55 LGBT in Ireland.
This study is commissioned by the Gay and Lesbian
Equality Network (GLEN) and funded by Age & Opportunity
and the HSE.
If you are aged 55 or over, LGBT, and
currently
living in the Republic of Ireland, you are invited to take
part in this study by completing an anonymous survey. The
survey should take no more than 30 minutes to complete, and
can either be done online,or by freepost by downloading and
filling in a word document, or by phone.

Gay Football (Soccer)
in the West?
Would you be interested in helping
to organise a gay football team in the west of Ireland?
Or would you be interested in playing for a gay football team?
Dublin
Devils, are a well established gay soccer team playing in Dublin.
They are anxious to help support the setting up of gay teams in
other parts of Ireland.
As they state in an email that OutWest
received at the beginning of February 2010:
"Our aim is to set up and support teams in different regions
of the island, such as Belfast, Cork, the South-East and the Connaught
area. Once teams are established, we plan to run a cup and perhaps
a league between the teams. This will be a great way to meet others
and to share ideas... "
If you would be interested
in taking part, and in particular if you would be interested in
helping set a team up (including possibly such things as sourcing
out potential locations to play - a local park, a football pitch,
a sports halls or astro pitches -and perhaps helping generating
interest and publicising the team through putting up posters, setting
up facebook and bebo pages) by all means get in touch with Dublin
Devils.
They can be contacted
by email at dublindevilsfc@gmail.com,
or you could try ringing Bill on 086-8059443
Mr Gay OUTWEST
2010
Congratulations
to Henry from Sligo, who was chosen at the Athlone Disco on 19th
September as Mr Gay OutWest.
Henry represented OutWest
in the Mr Gay Ireland 2010 Finals in The Tripod, Dublin, on Sunday,
25th October 2009. Although he did not win, Henry did OutWest
proud on the night!
Civil
Partnership Bill
OUTWEST's
view on the bill is that:
"This bill is a welcome step in the right direction; but
falls far short of full equality, particularly regarding the protection
of children in 'rainbow' families"
